Ask more Questions to build intimate Empathy
Early in my career, I accepted information and situations on face value.
Was this laziness, or too quick what is being told to me, without validation with questions
to get to the heart of the matter. I don’t think it was being lazy, maybe a shyness, but more that had made my judgement and therefore wasn’t much value in going deeper.
As i grew more savvy, and that there is a range of truths (you can have two people see the same accident but get two different versions) that in a professional consulting or coaching role the ability to ask deep critical questions is vital, to ensure you ge all the information necessary to make good decision ( It was Colin Powell who sought out 80% of the information before he made a judgement)
No longer do I take things for granted, but like a modern day I ask that last question, which sometimes makes the breakthrough
